Camping la Torre is an excellent campsite with great facilities. It is a perfect base for exploring the national park.

At the end of the building the washing area for cookware etc. & the washing machine/tumble dryer are located. The sinks are all deep & stainless steel, with plenty of hot water on tap. Finding plugs for some of the sinks can be a bit of a pain, but we always manage to locate one when we needed it. The washing machine/tumble dryer were perfectly serviceable & done the job well when required; a token is required from reception to use these. It is possible to just use the washing machine & then string ones clothes up on an impromptu washing line that you could string up between the trees adjacent to your camping area if you wish. This method works very well in the summer.

The campsite is not too large, spread over two tiers with great views over the town of Espot. One can set up wherever one likes, with pitching right next to your vehicle. The spaces are quite generous, power is available if need be for camper or motor homes. The facilities & amenities are generally very good, with a small bar come lounge adjacent to the reception room where a cold beer or cup of coffee can be enjoyed. There are tables & chairs scattered around in here where one can lounge about chatting to fellow campers, walkers, hikers etc. There are a selection of local maps & books of the surrounding areas to browse through for inspiration, & electrical sockets where one can charge technology as required. A small store is also located at the side of the lounge area that stocks some very basic items. A freezer is available if one needs to re-freeze ice blocks for use in cool boxes or fridges.

Next to the reception area there is a small but inviting swimming pool that proved very popular with some of the children there. Sun loungers are available for general use, & there were no issues with other folk ‘reserving’ them by placing towels over them. There is a small area adjacent to the pool where seats & tables are provided (I should imagine that all the outside furniture is stored away in the winter months) for enjoying the summer evenings. There is a hammock strung between two trees which is a very relaxing spot to exploit with a cold beer or bottle of wine close to hand. Overall, this was a great place for us to camp, using it as a base of operations to set off from to do some fantastic off-roading in our very faithful 20 year old Land Cruiser. In addition to this, the campsite is very well placed for hikers & walkers in the summer months, as there are some fantastic walks that start alongside the campsite that wind up into the hills & mountains, dotted with waterfalls, open meadows & some fantastic wildlife. This is a great place, & we would love to come back again if we get the opportunity.

We used several campsites during our tour and also stayed here for one night with a tent and really enjoyed the stay. You can feel that the owner loves his campsite and maintains it like his own garden. He is a really nice guy and the result is a wonderful little campsite that is really neat and also quiet. Perfect for us! :-)

Great place. Camped here after watching Vuelta 2016. Everything is very organised and clean. Friendly English speaking staff. 5 minute walk into Espot with access to the nearby national park. Lovely views across the valley. If you are into hiking then this is a great place to base yourself. Would not hesitate going back.

Although the location is beautiful, the staff was very unhelpfull. We called from Rome and asked for the price of a caravan for a night (€15 per night we were told, and we checked 3 times), when we arrived at the camping 4 hours later, the price was almost 4 times as high (50€ a night). Since it was already 11 in the evening, all the other campings closeby were closed. The lady at the reception did not want to help us by agreeing on a price in between or finding another place to sleep. She also denied us when we friendly requested to talk to the owner of the camping.

Further down the building are located the men & women’s shower & toilet facilities. I can’t personally comment on the women’s block, though Rachel assures me that they were kept just as orderly as men’s; these were very clean & I had no issues with the general standard of hygiene that was maintained. Obviously the cleaning staff here care about what they do, they this is quite often a thankless task. The showers were nice & warm all the time that I used them so I surmise that warm water is available all day/night. No tokens are required to operate them either which is a big bonus. As always, remember to take clean flip flops into the showers with you. My only criticism of the shower block was the sink area. While one is shaving etc., there is nowhere to hang or place ones cleaning kit or towel whilst doing so. It wasn’t too much of an issue while we were there, as it was not too busy, however at peak times this may become more apparent.

My partner Rachel & I stayed at ‘Camping La Torre’ during August 2017 as part of our Pyrenees 4x4 off road driving trip. We chose this place on the internet in the UK some time before & an excellent choice it turned out to be. The staff are all extremely friendly & very helpful; especially considering our knowledge of the Spanish language is very poor.
